Bradley’s Journey
A childhood shaped by trauma. A life reclaimed through breath, yoga, and voice.
Bradley’s physical recovery from a devastating childhood accident was remarkable. The deeper journey—from silence and accommodation toward presence, choice, and self-expression—would unfold across a lifetime.
The Journey Behind the Memoir
From the 1964 accident through therapy, breathwork, yoga, and the writing of The Agreeable Child.
The Story Was Preserved in Paper
For many years, Bradley’s earliest experience existed in scattered newspaper clippings, hospital correspondence, neurological reports, and speech evaluations. Together, these records reveal the severity of the injury and the long, determined course of recovery that followed.
The Documents Behind the Story
Recovery Was Only the Beginning
These records describe what happened to my body and how I recovered the ability to walk and speak. They could not describe the quieter effects that followed—the tendency to disappear into agreement, surrender choices, and remain silent when my voice was needed.
Decades later, breath and yoga helped me understand that survival and healing are not always the same journey. Writing The Agreeable Child allowed me to bring the records, memories, and emotional truth together in my own voice.
